Lessons are:

$25.00 for a half hour or $100 per month tuition

$50.00 for an hour or $200 per month tuition

Discounts are available for families with more than one student studying at PPAA.

We accept cash or a personal check at the lesson, and secure credit card payments can be made through your account on this website via PayPal. We can take credit cards in the studio, but it does take up valuable lesson time.

PLUS: Any music books needed by your student.  I will invoice you for these.  Books run approximately $____ per year, depending on how quickly your student advances through them.

I expect my students to come to every lesson prepared, with their music books, a happy attitude and a heart that is open and teachable.  Students who are surly, rude and disrespectful will be dismissed to study elsewhere, and a student on the waiting list will be given the slot.  Any monies paid for lessons untaken up to that point will be cheerfully refunded.

Students will work on at least two performance pieces a semester.  I expect students to wholeheartedly study the repertoire I assign and diligently complete their theory work, etc.

At the first lesson of every semester, we will talk through your goals and objectives as a pianist and as a parent.  We will also decide at that point if your student is wanting to shoot for the goal of playing at recital (not required).  Once we list goals, I will be prepared weekly to focus my time and attention solely on your student to meet their goals and objectives. Lessons will consist of learning proper technique and form, music theory and playing through the repertoire.  I am happy to assist your student with their music from school or church as well.  When opportunities come up for them to play, we will drop everything on our 'to do' list to prepare them for those wonderful opportunities!

I am respectful to the instrumentalists who study with me.  However, you can expect me to be honest and intense with a student who is not reaching their potential by practicing daily.  I am here to honor your time and financial investment and will work my hardest to see that your student is successful. I can only do so much, though.  The student is going to have to be responsible for their progress ultimately.   I will always be in communication with you via email, and will honestly assess your student's progress in the Lesson Notes email you will receive after EVERY lesson.  If you do not 'do email', please let me know.  I am always open to discussing any questions or concerns you might have in any format: text, email, by phone or in person.  Please do not hesitate to contact me.

I travel off and on year-round and lessons will be booked with students as fits both my schedule and yours. When necessary, a suitable substitute piano teacher will be employed to take my place, if that is agreeable to both student and parent. We will have Winter Break off as deemed by the Woodland Park RE-2 school calendar.  Note that we do have lessons on most teacher workdays. Snow days will be taken on a case by case basis.  I contact students/parents by phone or text when school closes for snow days to clarify what to do.

Your lesson time has been reserved for you!  Students who do not consistently come to lessons have a much harder time progressing in their studies.  Try to keep cancellations to a minimum. Students who are very ill (vomiting, fever, strep throat) should stay home.  If you do need to cancel, please try to do so 24 hours in advance by contacting me via text message, email or phone, if possible.   If the cancelation is due to school events, please try to schedule your lesson at a time that won't conflict at the beginning of the semester.

I reserve the right to cancel a lesson at any time and for any reason.  In the case of me canceling the lesson, lesson fees already paid will simply be credited to your next lesson.

I do offer make up lessons.  Please contact me when you cancel to schedule your make up lesson.

Students who fail to show up for a lesson without any explanation WILL be expected to pay for that lesson.  I reserve the right to terminate a student who does not show up for two or more lessons and give the slot to an instrumentalist on the waiting list.

Normally, students prepare for a studio recording in December and a recital in mid-May at a Woodland Park location.  Recitals are not required but are encouraged.  A $5.00 recital fee is required for all students who do participate. This fee helps offset the cost of the rental of the space and pays the sound technician.

The studio operates with a waiting list.  Please register via the website to get your name in the hat for a slot in the studio.  Students are taken on a first-come, first-served basis from this list.  Be sure to mention the times and days that work best for you to have a lesson.  Thank you in advance for your patience!

Parents are welcome to sit in on any and all lessons they choose, as long as:
A) their student feels relaxed and comfortable with them being there and
B) the parent can listen and observe the lesson without comment and/or interference.
Every week your students sees me, you will receive an email lesson reminder AND a follow-up email with lesson notes.  Please read these carefully to keep up with important dates AND to follow your student's progress.   If your student is not progressing, I will be telling you this in your weekly emails.  Please encourage them to practice and do what I am asking them to do in regards to their pieces, etc.  If you feel we need to change the goals and objectives for that semester, don't hesitate to let me know.
Our lesson time goes very quickly. If you need to speak to me about something lesson related, please email me or call me instead of taking up valuable lesson time. That being said, please know that I'm always happy to have parents in the studio!
It is important for parents to encourage their student to practice. If a parent has any reservations about their student's progress, I would appreciate it if they talk to me privately via email or phone to remedy the situation.  I am always available for conversation about any questions or concerns you may have.  I will try diligently to return all phone calls within 24 hours.  Email contact will be answered sooner.  Texts will be answered immediately.

A summer session is usually offered one full day a week during specific weeks of my choosing.    Lessons for beginning pianists are $25.00 per half hour and $50.00 per hour. There are no other fees associated with this short summer session and no recital scheduled.  Payment is expected at the time of your lesson(s).  There will be extra charge for any music books needed by the student.  While I am more flexible during the summer with scheduling, I encourage you to get your student in for regular lessons to keep up their skills and to make daily practice a part of your summer routine.
